Introduction
Narmanlı Han, which was the Russian Consulate until 1924, was later used as a prison for the Russians. Later, it became the space rented as studio and boarding house by artists such as Bedri Rahmi, Aliye Berger and Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. In its final state, before it was restored, only the Beyoğlu 2nd notary and an old woman who fed nearly fifty cats lived in the inn. Despite intense protests, actions and lawsuits, the restoration was completed in July 2018. It was heavily criticized on the grounds that the original texture of the building was damaged and that it was not faithful to its original, and the identity value of the building was not preserved as a part of the memory of Istanbul, and cutting the trees in its courtyard became the agenda. Narmanlı Han, which is one of the symbolic structures of Istiklal Street in Beyoğlu, has an illusion museum, restaurants, cafes and shops today.
