Make Your Colors POP!
Article
There are many ways to make colors combine each other harmoniously. One method of choosing colors properly is "Complementary". It may have a secondary or a tertiary colors. What I mean by saying this is, in the secondary colors there is one primary color (red, blue, yellow) and one secondary color [orange (red+yellow); green (blue+yellow); purple (red+blue)] which is created by mixing of two primary colors. For instance, the complementary color to blue is orange. In the tertiary color, in this time, there are one primary, one secondary and a tertiary color blended of two each other. Such as yellow-orange and blue-purple (indigo); red-purple (pink) and green-yellow; orange-red and blue-green (aqua). By mixing these colors and putting them in order, you can get color wheel.
The complementary colors are constantly used in Fauvism (an art movement emerged in Paris by Matisse and Andre Derain). Their paintings were quite eye-grabbing that its powerful effect was coming from the complimentary colors.
